5 Ways to ‘Shed’ Winter Blues

Though the garden isn’t quite thawed and we’ve yet to see much greenery, the Plantenance team is gearing up for a busy season, and that means starting with a good cleaning of our ‘shed’! If you’re raring to do something about your outdoor escape, why not start with planning something great for your shed or garage?

1. 90% preparation, 10% perspiration

Using the right tool for the job can spare you a lot of frustration when it comes to yard work… That is, unless it’s dull, rusted, or worse, buried under a pile of junk. Treat yourself with a spring cleaning of your storage spaces and save yourself trouble down the line (unless you’re using Plantenance’s landscaping maintenance services, at which point, we’ve got you covered and you can transform your garage into the Batcave of your dreams).

2. Actually, A Batcave

Well, maybe not, but if you’re not using your garage as a storage or parking space, you might want to consider remodelling your shed or garage into a Man Cave or a She Shed. Good insulation for the cold season and that you’ve got a great view through the door will definitely make this the relaxation haven of your dreams.

3. Granny Flat or Guest Room

Alternatively, if your garage isn’t in use, but is detached from the house, you can turn it into a granny flat (useful to house everyone, from actual grandmothers to noisy teenagers and out of town guests, or even to rent out short term on AirBnB).

4. Curbed Appeal

Chances are, your driveway is in rough shape after the winter time, unless you had it redone recently. If you’re considering adding value to your home, giving it’s curb appeal a facelift, or getting a smoother ride into your home, begin planning your driveway remodel before the snow goes.

5. Lighten Up!

‘Shed’ some light (last pun, promise) onto your garage or shed with some low-energy consumption LED’s. Not only will lighting really raise up your landscaping game. but it will ensure a secure and well-lit entrance to your home.
